i wasn't trying to romanticize or suggest anything, just pointing out that monetization has no impact on the quality and relevance of art, only the appreciation of lots of other people.

True fact. It's tough knowing your own level of skill or quality of art though. If nobody consumes your art you'll never know whether you're good or not
