If everyone adopted dogs wouldn't the dogs that are sold in pet stores feel bad because no one wants them then the sellers figure no one wants them so have them to be put down and then someone adopts them and it creates this vicious cycle

I wish my mother-in-law would adopt. She's trying to get a purebred Shar Pei puppy from Illinois for $2000.
They don't even have enough money for day to day life, but she wants her dog. My wife even found her Shar Pei rescue dogs within 100 miles for $50 but she doesn't want a "used" one. Ugh.
