same with stone cold. they are the first heel-faces i can remember.

before that, they would let the audience decide which side they were on. for example i remember when the honkey tonk man made his debut as a face (same elvis gimmick), and the audience just hated him. so the next show, he did an angry shoot and turned heel, and a very silly legend was born.

They need to get back to letting the audience decide. They try to force wrestlers down fans' throats now and it always backfires. Like they've been trying to make Roman Reigns the face of the company and now everyone hates him.

i've grown tired of the whole heel/face dynamic though. interesting characters should be duplicitous imo. that's why game of thrones is way cooler than lord of the rings.

Game of Thrones had some major heels, though. Joffrey was basically a puppy kicking villain, same with Ramsay.
