One of our students, who is like family to us, emailed me. His friend killed her self by jumping off a building like a minute from our building.
It’s so so sad. I wish I could go round and see him but as a student I can’t. But he is beside himself with guilt for coming into college today and not being there with her. Tho I told him I doubt he would have stopped her as she knew his routine and probably chose that time on purpose so he couldn’t be there to stop her.
I just keep thinking about how me and Chris (the student) were probably having a laugh and stuff, just round the corner as she jumped.
Unknowing of what was going on
I didn’t even hear anything about someone jumping while I was at work
Usually I hear something about local news
I always asked after her when I saw Chris as I knew she was up and down and I could relate to it
I would like to attend her funeral with Chris as support but again I can’t from a work perspective
It’s such a shame
I just want to be there to support him through his grief
He’s the nicest guy and he had done so much for this lady, Jackie, in the time he knew her. Even paying £200 on a debt she owed to help her out.
And he’s already had so much sadness in his life, his dad hated him from birth because he didn’t want a kid and would be mentally abusive to him and his mum.
His mum eventually took her own life.
He was engaged to a woman who got diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and watched her fade away to her death within 4 years
After that he said he would never be with anyone else as he could never deal with that pain again of watching someone wither away
She was only 28
And he has never had a relationship since. He’s 68 now and has no family, no friends, which is why he come into college daily, even when there’s no class, for social interaction
And we all love him, He’s so helpful and kind.
