first of all shut up secondly when I went for assessment they told me I was legit under the height requirement for the RE corps so it was up to them whether I went on to basic training or not

i agree getting shot for weed is excessive, his production wSasorganised and large scale. Chances are they were leeching leccy for the lights etc. Given it was organised and large scale he could well be armed, "tooled up". Given he was ex services and a combat vet it's possible they thought he was.
