it failed to entertain me. apart from my amusement with the droid, i found it completely boring.

i did take it as a boon that none of the characters were adequately developed or compelling; that way i didn't leave the theater feeling sad that they all died.

I found it as more as a heist movie which was different then the rest. Not the best but different which I found refreshing. Idk Disney is killing it with the mcu but can’t seem to get the sw universe anything close to entertaining of late, imo.

It's really up to the kids to deliver final judgement imho. I was 9 when I saw RotJ in the theater and to me everything after was weak by comparison. Many younger adults seem to think the PT was the bees knees, when I completely disagree. The current generation of kids might disagree with us both

Funny I was the same age and agree with you that it was the best last Star Wars movie made. My kids loved the PT and I watched it for them. Imo, this new trilogy is a poorly written and acted mess. It is what it is.

exactly. when you step back and look at it, all the dialogue from star wars was pretty corny and simple. shrivels in comparison to the more high-brow variety of classic cinema. you have to enjoy it for what it is, which is why i equally enjoy flash gordon (1980) to star wars

i think what made the OT greater was that the actors were unchained and unrestricted (as sharply opposed to the PT), and that allowed them to get sassy, which saturated their dialogue. particularly han/luke/leia. guess i'm saying that it was the overall attitude that made it more fun

You had me at Flash Gordon. One of my fondest memories as a child was Vader betraying Palpatine and throwing him off the railing. I remember everyone stood up in the movie theater and giving a standing ovation. Years later it still gives me chills
