Remember this was in the early 2000's, most people couldn't download music easily. I was able to download his album in advance, burn it to cd's, and sell them for $5 each. Tee hee. My school was mostly hispanic kids so they loved rap and bought it.

Plus even after it was released, you'd need to pay $12-15 for it in a store. Surt provided a service.
