It's worth staying in walking distance of the tower etc. Cheap but good hotels abound, eat at the cafes, quality food at low prices. Things to do, walk from the Eiffel tower to the louvre up to the arc. Take a boat trip on the seine, walk along the riverside, visit the Musee dorsi, walk up the hill to the Sacre Cour. Visit the Palace. Just enjoy, beggers abound btw, often using babies.

I saw two places recommended for staying in Paris

7th Arr because it’s close to Eiffel

But also montmarte because it’s a very nice area and full of life

I think I prefer the 2nd. I don’t mind being far from Eiffel Tower
