This has been misrepresented by the media. He was referring to democrats overhyping it as a hoax. Not that the virus isn't real. Go track down the transcript of the entire speech he calls it a threat.

Trump now thinks this is serious enough to shut down air travel, seems the "overhyping" was founded as here we are now.
