The grief washed over me like an embrace from an old friend
I was used to it. I’d lost so many. It was familiar but always slightly different with each loss.
But that pain was always there, kind of like your heart is being squeezed to stop the blood pumping through fully but just enough for you to stay alive. You are existing but ur not really present.
Looking around and seeing the faces of everyone around me. Sullen and tear stained. But I couldn’t cry, I wanted to but the tears wouldn’t come. It was as if my body knew that once I started I wouldn’t stop.
I could hear the music playing but it was as if it was inside and I was outside, somewhat muted. I feared the moment we would be asked to stand because I didn’t know if my legs would hold me.
People around me reached out and gave a comforting rub to my shoulders and back, To let me know they were there for me. I gave a half smile in their direction but I didn’t take in who they were.
The service seemed to be over so quickly. I barely realised until I was being ushered out the side door.
I glimpsed at the coffin. Was that it? Shouldn’t we do more, say more, how can a life be summed up in that time.. how can goodbye happen so quickly
But I didn’t rly finish it

Oh shit, I really like that! It's really visual. Really reminded me of the last few funerals I went to, especially that last bit. How unreal and ****ing weird it all feels. You should write more, it's good!
Yeah I was kinda using the feelings from the last funeral I went to for my colleagues mum, trying to step into her shoes mixed with feelings I’ve had from the many funerals I’ve been to
I always start writing stuff then I never finish anything
Even why I tried to write a short story.. I didn’t finish it haermm
