see, thin guy approves!

okay guys serious question time. My dog is about to die, we think he's intermittently in quite a bit of pain, and he's getting really aggressive due to a combination of blindness and his back legs not working anymore. My parents have decided to keep him any longer is unfair on him. We've had him for ten years so he's a huge part of my parent's lives.

Now, I keep saying they should get another dog like right away, to ease the pain, but they don't want to. My mum suggested maybe that I get one instead, and they can help look after him.

Idk what to do, because I'd love to have a dog, but I don't know if I'm responsible enough. I'm crippling lazy and often shiftless and useless. On one hand, maybe having a dog would help me with that. But it might also just exhaust me even further.

I have a full-time job so it might even mean waking up crazy-early to walk him. I'd also have to buy his food and pay for the vets and all that, y'know, pet stuff that people have to do.

Should I get a dog?

after food, get toys. Sometimes they'll just play with them without you even there, taking away the burden. That might be a good place to start. I'd recommend you get a low maintenence one like a pug. They'll eat anything too, so that's one less worry.

Pugs have really short lifespans, it'd only go and die on me and make me sad. But otherwise yeah, solid points

Part of me just wants to get a lab. I love them, they have big fat heads perfect for patting, and I've met few labs that cause trouble. But they also say "Don't get a dog that's stronger than you" and yeah a lab would take me tf out

The biggest problem is the shit. But that's what walkies is for.

I've picked up dog shit before but yeah, it's something you gotta get used to

For your parents' sake, one very similar to the one before would benefit them and the dog, most people usually do that.

get a pup as well, but you probs already knew that.

heck, get a lab. Get a black lab huskey hybrid. Or.... one weaker than you like a terrier, sheepdog or a staffy.

DO NOT GET A CHIUAUA

He's a small dog and idk I don't really want a small dog. Other than perhaps a corgi, that could be neat.

A staffy would kick my arse. They may not be huge, but they're very strong. That being said I do love staffies

chihuahua*

My plan would be to get a rescue dog tho because then I'd be saving a good pooch from being destroyed

im not a dog expert tbf.

talk to the rspca.

Should I get a dog?

If you are even questioning it then the honest answer is no.
