EC3 wanted ownership of his name and the WWE absolutely HATES that. That is the reason they buried him. He had a great contract though and his release should have been very lucrative!

I honestly can't recall a reaction like this to a wrestler announcing retirement before this.

I think it's cuz Undertaker just got along with more or less everyone. Didn't take sides backstage.

That would suck cuz Undertaker doesn't come off like the guy who would do that to fans. And surely by now he has enough clout to refuse certain storyline ideas.
