What exactly "no longer works" that you're doing?

The idea, I assume, is to detract from the criticism without actually saying that criticism is wrong. Probably because deep down you know it isn't.

People were using that and getting along fine when there weren't jackasses and mods about.

So what happened to the page

At this point in the GDF the only grounds for banning someone should be two things:

-if they repeatedly spam threads that do not belong there or create threads with stories that could go into other topics.

-if they physically threaten someone for no reason

Well yes why should a person be banned for discussing drug use(to use an example)?

Why shouldn't insults and arguing be allowed?
