It could be about them going to save Troy from those pirates...

and IDK, greendale has a class reunion that is also somehow a cruise...thus setting the stage for them to be sailing into waters. Keeps the original crew but also the college too.

or perhaps it's the cruise idea, and then pirates attack, but Troy is the captain, having risen the ranks since his capture. That adds the drama and tension element

This sounds great, they could do a whole meta commentary on cheesy reunion films, cheesy boat cruise movies, and ridiculous over-dramatic hostage movies, whilst also having Abed slightly excited that he gets to recreate moments from Captain Philips
