I wish I had kept one of those all steel tan cases that where everywhere in early/mid 90s. Could have upgraded the fans/cooling to meet today's standards, but kept a nice retro look on the outside.

But surge protectors should be replaced every 5 years or sooner (with regular use), even though I have some that are easily 10-15 years old. Your 1987 one, time to retire. I'd keep it though, probably looks cool.
