Kant says we are only ethical if we use people as ends-in-themselves, not as means for our own gain. That would make very few modern people ethical by Kantian deontology

Capitalism is inherently anti-Kant, in a sense. In many senses. Let us brutally dismantle the free market.

Ethics should essentially come from duty to your fellow (hu)man. Don't waste innocent life, don't use people as means to an end, don't lie, don't set out to cause harm. However it gets thorny after those basic ideas. I disagree with Kant's ethics in many, many places. There are fusion systems that allow for more reasonable (in a certain sense) approach to ethics.

Need to figure out where Hegel and Spinoza stand on this matter. The journey is long and arduous.
