Technically 'race' is no more concrete (for whatever value that would be) a thing than 'latino' or 'latino is a race' would be... and not in a trivial way it seems to me. The connection between contemporary social use of the term race seems so distant from the 19th century concept that it is senseless to try to maintain for it impermeable delineations.

Well it's a mix of Spanish and Native and native is Mongolian/Chinese that evolved over time. But to be even more specific, not all Latinos have Spainish blood in them.
