So micro-gaps, in something similar to styrofoam, set to less of a gap than the wavelength of the particle pair in the laser pointer will trap them (hence microwave, or the net in your microwave) and then an electron current with the same wavelength can curve the path of those photons as they bounce out off the gaps to where some slip through but not their particle pair. So the photons don't bifurcate in a laser pointer.
