One has two different square roots. This is why there can exist a negative root of 1, even thought two negatives make a positive, if only one of the numbers is negative then it works. The issue is that 0.316227766 times itself becomes less, or .1, so the square roots of 1 are .1 and 1 which is why i is not an imaginary number. As you can have .1 x -10 = -1, meaning a positive and a negative square root.
