Actually note how different 'German' and 'Germanic' are. English derives from Germanic, not German. German then evolved from Germanic, too.

Furthermore, that is only in it's very origins; since then, the language, especially in the modern day, borrows far more heavily from said Latin based languages.

Well it's not what you originally said, you said it was 'mainly german' or something. In the end, does it matter where something starts from if by now it's entirely different. I'm not the foetus I once was, am I? Music isn't still all country or blues, is it? So essentially whatever existed in the roots of English is nearly completely mutilated and changed, even moreso with the new American-English dialects.

Look no matter where you live if your family once was irish you are irish. That was the joke i was making. I said we made it better and you got it from germans(technically they came from ehat is now west germany.... so.
