AMERICAN rock trio Green Day is set to announce an Australian tour this week.
The mega-selling Californian pop-punk act, currently riding high in the charts with its critically-acclaimed concept album 21st Century Breakdown, is expected to play at the Entertainment Centre on December 6.
This is welcome news for music fans, after several big-name acts have recently decided not to perform in Adelaide on upcoming national tours.
This week, pop star Britney Spears - whose upcoming Australian tour is said to be one of the biggest indoor events ever staged - announced she would bypass Adelaide.
But Green Day's tour announcement, along with the news legendary band AC/DC is set to rock Adelaide Oval in March, should keep Adelaide's rock fans happy.
The three-piece band has sold over 22 million records in the US and won three Grammy Awards.
Green Day has just begun a world tour to support the release in May of its eighth and latest album.
