1,500 words isn't that bad. Especially if there are no limits. Are there limits, or can it be anything?
For the short story? It's an open theme, but I already know what I'm going with.
The autobiographical piece has to be...autobiographical. I'm doing that on a bad magic mushroom trip I once had.
The essay has to be a retrospective on what I've covered during the semester and what I've learned from it, covering questions like 'why do I write?' etc.
The poem has to be either political or confessional.

No it doesn't, thank god. The poem isn't allowed to be any longer than a page.
Mine'll probably be about three hastily written stanzas.
For one of my final projects in my graphic novel class, we had to choose a graphic novel (I did Ghost World), write a synopsis of it, write an analysis of it, write a biography of the author, and then draw a full page that would fit right into the book itself, so it had to be completely in the illustrator's style, but it also had to include you interacting with the main characters, as if you were another character in the book. Did a good portion of that last minute, think I stayed up til 4 or 5 am. Sucked horribly, but everything came out fine, luckily

Forget it, man. It's over, just leave it. You'll make a perfectly good burger flipper, there's no shame in that, and you won't fail as bad as you are going to fail now.

Ghost World seems pretty good for the last part of that.
