since 21st Century Breakdown they've been more underground since American Idiot
its understandable considering how fast a society we live in nowadays you know i mean its like one minute we're listening to this band and have a long haircut with a fringe that goes way off to the side and thinking this is like super cool but then a week later you're listening to this band and then you shave your head and start walking around naked and talking about how people don't 'get you' and how you're trying to keep it 'real' you know and GD took 5 years making 21st CB so its not the biggest surprise you know people change people who are brainwashed into following 'trends' and such have a newer trend to catch onto you know
not that 21st CB hasn't been totally unsuccessful but commercially its been more comparable to previous albums like Insomniac and Nimrod though personally i feel it deserves so much more cause it is EPIC you know
they've seemed to slip into what i call the semi-stream i mean they're still in the mainstream but they ain't like as popular as they were during American Idiot

But they are known worldwide, you can't possibly claim they are "underground" at all.

Screaming Females are definitely underground
any mainstream press they get and they have had some
they were on that alexa chung show on mtv and they've been mentioned in Spin and Rolling Stone
but they totally deserve it and its great that mtv plays Screaming Females cause i mean people who do still watch mtv probably expect the hills or something then this underground kick ass band still on an indie label comes on (alexa chung apparently personally got them to play after seeing them open for Dead Weather) and then these people will be like 'wow what is this awesome music i must google search this and find out more' and then thanks to mtv they would be into awesome music
and also the first two Screaming Females albums were self released by the band themselves and the only way to get them were from the band at shows or online or something
and Jarret would set up the tours himself and actually phone up the places asking to play
totally DIY
after Power Move though i think they've hired a tour agent and press agent though because its too much work for them to handle which is understandable cause i don't think people realise like how hard it is cause apparently Jarret when Screaming Females were opening for dead weather was buried in paperwork its not like someone asks you to play you show up and play no its not like that
but they totally deserve any press they get
