The risk of being exposed to the cleansing rays of the sun is to great for you to risk it.

Yeah, he has a very noticeably accent, because it is very unlike many we are exposed to day to day on television or through our friends, however, even the most common and accepted accent is still an accent, so you and everyone else that can speak has one.

You make a very good point.

Maybe. I dunno. Some say they can hear my Texan accent, whereas others say I have no accent. How Y'all doin'?

What kind of accent would you say, for example, the following people have:

Brad Pitt
Kurt Russell
Obama

american

But "no accent" just refers to an accent that they are used to hear and define as standard, probably some sort of General American, northern accent. It doesn't mean that you have no accent, just that your accent sounds very standard/common to people, rather than the heavy Texan accents that exist.

And I can't really group them as I am not knowledgable in American regional accents and I think they have all different accents anyways, but they mostly fall into this I'd suppose: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_American

Linguistically you need an accent to speak a language, it is a prerequisite, a part of language.

When I think Texan accent, I think Brad Pitt talking about hunting Nazis.

Well, the thing is as actors part of their job is to simulate accents that are not their own standard. However you understand now that "no accent" is a myth, a misunderstanding of a perceived standard accent?

Wasn't his character supposed to be from TN?
