a conditioned response built by society around breasts as “private parts”. it is a highly secretive area on a female (we are raised as such in western culture) and so it creates a ‘forbidden fruit’ sort of desire (bad analogy?) by males. breasts are linked to sexual arousal (rightly so, they are extremely sexy) but rarely do people evolve to the point where they are more than just a symbol of sex. unfortunate.
(get what i’m saying though? breasts are sexy, for sure, but just as legs are sexy, or hips, or stomach, or neck, etc. yet we can still see those body parts as just body parts – **** are different, there is no seperation because of the secrecy of them – they are forbidden and highly sexualized as such.) i would say there is something inherently sexy about the female body/male body – the perversion of this sexuality is the culprit. sexual desire and nudity are healthy.
thinking pornographically/purely with sexual lust seems to violate the very essence of a person that is comfortable with their own body, towit sexualizing a ‘nipslip’ on someone who really doesn’t give much of a **** and has chosen not to wear a bra with a nice/loose/flowing sundress deliberately. though, i must say as a male, it is empowering to see a woman turned on by male nudity, though i don’t know if the same holds true for women [men tend to enjoy being objectified because it is not as common, women, the opposite]. i’ve been thinking about this relentlessly ever since reading http://altreport.hipsterrunoff.com/2010/04/pix-of-some-artists-getting-naked-at-moma-doing-some-sort-of-performance-art.html and i’ve come to find it is an extremely complicated thing – what is the essence of sexuality? at what point does healthy sexual attraction become perversion/unruly lust/wanton lasciviousness? have we, as a society, cultivated breasts as a sexual object?
i have always been sexually attracted to breasts (as most men are), and i have also cultivated a healthy respect for them as more than just sexual objects. it’s thinking about this dichotomy that has got me so riled up/confused. i sometimes have a tough time separating my (seemingly) innate sexual desire for women from my respect for them as people, and i guess i’m trying to reconcile the two, and get at the root of the out-of-control sexual attraction/objectification that seems as if it is more than just biological. ie facilitated by the prevalence of pornography/america’s attitudes towards nudity/the ‘privatization of naughty bits’
