It did happen because I just found out Johnny boy believes in the wage gap.

I agree with him on so much so this is like finding out a massive scientific genius that you admire is also a part of the "Flat Earth" movement.

If there was a true wage gap then employers would be hiring nothing but females, why wouldn't you do that if you could apparently legitimately just pay them less? It's why illegals get work.
