I've noticed a lot of shows I really enjoyed are just like..full of awful people. Like not the "parks in a handicap spot when they are not handicapped" kind of awful either but like really horrible stuff.
Take Sons of Anarchy. Pretty much all horrible people who deserved to die 1,000 horrible deaths probably, but it is compelling. Seeing them commit greater and greater acts of horror is compelling.
Or like..any vampire show. These people are serial killers and why the f*ck am I rooting for them to "get the girl" or some shit? Wait, why are all these teenaged/twenty something girls falling for serial killers? Is it bad I want the horrible characters to succeed? Should I be rooting for these characters to just..have like Buffy swing by their neighborhoods?
i'd consider most of the gang on sons of anarchy to fit the anti-hero trope while they may go against the cultural norms, they tend to help out those in duress
the characters I'm talking about are only in it for themselves, constantly covering up a bed of lies while creating new lies.
I guess there's a lot of instances of that with the Sons, but to me it seemed to me that they always served a "greater good" whatever that may have been. It always seemed that there was something (i use this word very loosely) LOVABLE!
IDK i'm watching Last Man on Earth and Will Forte's character is impossible to like. Every good thing he does is offset by an insanely horrible thing. There's nothing lovable about this guy!
