its true
i made a 90's era woodstock reference and the kids in my class just gave me blank faces
they were all "man woodstock was so great" being all pretentious like "that was real music!"
and i was like "Yeah then Limp Bizkit had to get on stage and ruin it for everyone by inciting riots"
all i got were blank expressions
Do you like My Bloody Valentine? Their early work was a little too post-punk for my taste. But when Isn't Anything came out in '88, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has an ethereal, atmospheric sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. They've been compared to Slowdive, but I think My Bloody Valentine has a far warmer, hypnotic sense of love. In '91, MBV released this: Loveless, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Only Shallow". A song so noisy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of dreaming and the importance of being asleep; it's also a personal statement about the band itself.
