There is only one answer in my eyes: both. I understand and often agree with your critiques of the left as a 'party', but right now Trump supporters are ignoring the fact that he has put a bunch of Goldman-Sachs people in power when he said that he was taking the power back from such people, and gets angry at any tiny offence to his person whilst supposedly representing a culture against political correctness. His supporters go wild any time anybody even vaguely criticises him or even his policies. That hypocrisy is too obvious deny. Both sides react the same way to situations. Who knows how the right and alt-right would have responded to a Hillary win? I don't see a point taking a side, all I know is that in my eyes, Trump is a liar, which is exactly the opposite reason that most people voted for him. But now that he's won, nobody will admit it, because people are still to scared to admit that they are wrong, even in the face of seemingly inexorable evidence.

So wait, you would say the media is 100% equal in covering the hypocrisy of both sides?

oh man surgery shows are the ****ing worst

Another example of right-wing hypocrisy: you should be allowed to do what you want whatever the cost, because feelings don't matter compared to sense and rationality, unless (for example) a woman wants to get an abortion, in which case the right will become incredibly emotional about that unborn foetus, even if the woman bearing it hasn't got the funds or capability to raise it or give it a good life. It makes no sense. Surely by their logic, emotions don't matter and what is best for the country is what is right + the right to choose your own actions is paramount, so women should be allowed to have abortions as it seems to fit right in with that train of thought. Yet, Trump is anti-abortion and plans to scrap Planned Parenthood.

Hypocrisy is on both sides, but it sure as hell seems like in general society accepts it more from the left than the right. People make excuses for it for one side, but not as much as the other.

Compare the coverage of the recent Chicago kidnapping and torture of a white learning disabled man by 4 blacks. Compare that with how it would have been covered if 4 whites had done it to a black, video taped it laughing all the way, and posted it on purpose.

For the most part. Fox News and Brietbart cover the right, and CNN and HuffPost cover the left. Both sides have their champions. Maybe the left have more numbers in terms of sources, but in the UK it's different; even the BBC and known left-wing news sources smear our left-wing candidate. It's shit, but what can you do? Scrap the media? Even when biased, it's better having them than not, and Trump wants to bypass the media entirely, allowing for his ardent supporters to hear everything from his mouth, and thus just deciding that it's all true, which is crazy. People have to be held accountable no matter what. You want your president to be held accountable, right?

Lol wait you think the media in general takes Breitbart as seriously as CNN?

The same site where the one guy involved(Steve Bannon I think) is called an anti-semite..despite having flat out hired jews to work for the site? Gay jews, on top of that.

What society leans towards should not influence your own opinions and decisions. It can lead to the individual trusting more in the opposition just because the other side is wrong, when life isn't that simple. You have to balance it all up for yourself and decide for yourself. Yes, there are social injustices, but there always have been, in fact it used to be a lot worse. Just because what we have now is bad, doesn't mean we have to go back. We have to keep pushing forward.

i'm not defending people that were smashing windows starting fires or attacking people , most likely a small minority, whether they were left right or upside down they should be arrested

Who is 'the media'? The media IS CNN and Breitbart. They are literally a part of the media. The Media is not an entity, just in the same way that The Left and The Right are not entities. They are a collection of individuals.

I don't think you defend them, but you make excuses for them..and I truly don't believe people would make the same excuses for those from the right. That is the problem and the danger in all this. They'd be called nazi's and fascists.

These dipsticks? Oh no, they're "anti fascists" lol.

Mainstream media, of which no..Breitbart is not a part of.

Query: MSM in general leans more towards which side? We both know the answer lol.

Because nothing is balanced. There will always be one side outweighing the other. And as in my last post, there is no 'they'. 'They' is a collective term that isn't particularly useful in this context. It is a collection of individual sources, made up of individuals.

And neither is HuffPost, etc. What's your point?

Surtur, you're really keeping me on my toes today, I appreciate that. I like fast-paced discussions like this.

I do agree that it far more socially acceptable in America these days to hold left-leaning views than right-leaning ones, and it seems to be the case that left-leaning people have found a way to dominate news sources and get away with shitty journalism. But that does not make the hypocrisy and blindness of the right any less real, and the right is coming out in droves on social media, aggressively criticising any small satirisation or critique of Trump. I understand the anger, but falling behind Breitbart and Trump is not the answer. People need to expand their worldview beyond just left and right, rather than intensify their extremism of the side they most closely identify with.

Stuff like this increases my WPM and makes it easier for me to write essays in the future

Why do you hate discussions about pointing out hypocrisy, when people being pissed off over that is, IMO, one big reason some voted for Trump. Whether you think they are wrong to vote for him over that or that Trump shows hypocrisy too, you can't deny the effect perceived hypocrisy can have.

Think of it another way: you'd agree it's a problem for society for a law to be applied more to one race over another, correct?

You can't expect any news site to be balanced, but the media itself should be..and it's not. People are so worried about fake news, what about news constantly slanted to one side? Nobody talks about the damage that does.

Plain fact: it's okay for one side to demonize entire groups more than the other. See the outrage of some of Trumps comments when compared to Hilary's deplorable comment.
