OK, so the following acts must be performed in order to prevent the galaxy from blinking out of existence. If they fail to comply, they themselves survive but everyone else survives.

How far does each character get?

Leia

1. A sith lord
2. 10 criminals
3. a single person
4. a family
5. a planet
6. a solar system
7. someone close to them (Luke - Ben, Han - Leia, Leia - Han, Sidious - um...his rule as emperor, Obi Wan - Anakin, Yoda - umm...all the wookies, Mace - umm...the jedi counsel, Anakin - Padme, Cade - Kol, Exile - I dunno, who's close to her?)
9. Half of the galaxy
10. Their entire family and friends
11. Their entire family and friends gets fed to the scarlaac
12. Themselves (for some this won't be as bad as some of the options, but oh well)

So wait, Luke must "act" a Sith Lord? Or did you mean, he must beat a Sith Lord? Or did you mean Luke must act like a Sith Lord?

No, he must KILL a sith lord.

BTW, everyone here automatically has the ability to kill everyone on this list.

And yeah, what Lucien said. If it's a matter of sacrificing those listed, then obviously Palpatine wins.

Palpatine stops at 12. He'd sacrifice everyone except himself.

Well...I guess it isn't worth ruling if everyone except for you and a few others is dead...

And what about the others? How far do they get?

They all make it. Cade may have some trouble, and so long as it's LS Exile... but everyone else sans Palpatine is a good guy and smart enough.

Whiney Anakin won't make it.

Oh yeah, I didn't see Anakin up there. Saving the galaxy means saving Padme. He'll let himself and others die for her to live, but I don't see him sacrificing HER to let the galaxy live.

So he won't be able to do 7,9, and 10. I don't know where 8 went.

Heh. I didn't even notice 8 got kidnapped.

Now would any of these characters sacrifice that list in order to save 8?

I know Mr. LOL wouldn't.

What is morality? Are we defining it as 'the ability to commit these actions in spite of their likely consequences to the self?' If so, Palpatine loses the thread because all he thinks about is the self.

The thread is about the things these people would do to keep the galaxy alive, so Palpatine would sacrifice a lot because he wants something to rule.
If he didn't save the galaxy he would have nothing to do.

Also if you are basing this on your personal experience(s) you can't really judge him by that. He is old, don't expect him to satisfy ALL your needs.

All this talk of morality... we're in for a banning.
