Deicide rates number one for me. Good, old fashioned, satanic death metal. 👆

Deicide is a great death band. and Glen Benton is also a great vocalist for Vital Remains

my 5 heaviest metal bands:
1. Kult ov Azazel
2. Vital Remains
3. Deicide
4. Archgoat
5. Beherit

Anyone have some suggestions for a current NON screamo metal band? I've really been trying to find some metal but the only bands i come across are either screamo or the lead singer sings with a high-pitched, whiny voice.

Look up the bands I've listed if you haven't heard them before.

First, what kind of Metal do you normally listen to?
I'm not asking for the specific genre, I'm asking about their style of musicianship.

For example, I prefer listening to 'melodic' metal bands (In Flames, Opeth, As I Lay Dying, August Burns Red) rather than 'trashy' metal bands (Cannibal Corpse and the like, they're noisy and they all suck IMO).

Thus, I can only suggest to you some 'melodic' metal bands I listen to...
Try some Soilwork, War Of Ages, Killswitch Engage, It Prevails, Haste The Day, A Plea For Purging, Extol. 👆

trashy? well he did say imo just like i can say that the bands he listed suck and some aren't really metal. more like mainstream crap. look for underground bands that actually have talent. that's where you'll find good music

It Prevails? Mainstream? Hardly.
Ian, their vocalist, works as an elevator repair man so he can afford to make music in his spare time.

The only mainstream bands I listed are Killswitch Engage, and probably Haste The Day.

Here's some more 'melodic' metal bands...
Arch Enemy, All That Remains, Heaven Shall Burn, Scar Symmetry (circa 2004-2008)

Btw, I meant 'thrashy' not 'trashy.

sorry bout that. got a little carried away. i just hate when people talk shit about metal bands. i know alot and talk to alot of underground bands that work hard to do what they do and get it released. alot of it sounds better than mainstream shitty bands put out

Yeah, it's okay.
People do get a fuss when I mention about my personal preference in metal.

Don't get me wrong, I do like all kinds of metal, but my metal of choice are the more 'melodic' ones.
With all due respect to Cannibal Corpse and similar bands, I just never liked their style of play. The music they play just seem to lack emotion and talent (at least for me).

it just seems that way because to everyone that isn't into that type of music thinks it's just knows and people growling and screaming. but those bands do have alot of talent and put alot of emotion into their music
