Good work from bad artists

Okay, so I read Wolverine 73 this week and it shocked the hell out of me. Daniel Way has a story in the issue and not only does it not suck, but it is actually great, fantastic even. This got me wondering, what are some other examples of good / great work from writers or artists that typically produce mediocre works?

So, what's your favourite piece of work from writers / artists you hate?

Greg Land:

he usually sucks big time, but that is one damn fine piece of work.

Loeb: Long Halloween

I can't appreciate Greg Land's work when I know he's basically just drawn over a photo.

Plus Hush, OWAW, Early 00's Superman, Public Enemies, etc...
