Instead, it will endeavor to explore the wealth of source material on the Sith Master and examine his abilities as a Force-user and combatant for the purposes of concluding that he is, without question, the most powerful Sith in the totality of Star Wars canon.
Oh joy. Another great "analysis" with a preconceived conclusion. Would you, at least, be so kind and tell the truth. This is not an "examination" of Sidious abilities but a compilation of your one-sided assessment of the canon material, which - as you proclaim yourself - just serves the purpose to prove your opinion right. Anybody who expects something even halfway objective following after that introduction, must be really naive.
Why don't you just write "And here comes my argument", instead of trying to sell the people that you're even interested in a proper analysis of the material? You're neither willing nor capable of producing anything even remotely close to an "examination" or "analysis" when the issue is Sidious.
Thanks in advance.

Hes powerful no doubt. But in in the big leagues.
Your one of the few people I have seen saying Palpatine is not in the "big leagues". I can certainly see arguments saying he is not the most powerful sith but almost all will agree that he is up in the top ten. I have to ask if Palpatine a guy who can lay waste to worlds is not in the big leagues who is?

But when comparing him to guys like Bane, Nihilus, and Exar Kun, IMO, he doesn't compare. But i'd put those guys within the top 4.

I don't want to get into the N. thing again, but what are Bane and Kun's greatest shows of power?
Bane accomplishes some truly impressive feats unaided, but I'm not sure the same can be said of Kun. His energy blasts and telekinesis were "radically" enhanced by use of Sith amulets and, until the day comes that Count Dooku is a singlehanded planet-killer by virtue of using the Dark Reaper, we don't give credit to people who use tools to achieve their feats.

This is completely missing the point. The amulets enhance power, and Sith Kun is always using said power. The ancient Sith used amulets. Hell, iirc, you said Sidious had an amulet of some kind to channel his power. If you're going to poo-poo Kun because his powers were juiced to the max with Sadow's amulet, you might as well admit that it puts him in an entirely different category than those "unaided".
This isn't the same as bitching about aimbot or something. Kun uses a legit Sith method to boost his already considerable powers and give himself an advantage. What Sith wouldn't? It's not like they have bushido.

This is completely missing the point.
No, it's not. The point of this thread and topic is to explain why Palpatine's the most powerful Sith. He's at such a high plateau of badass because he does "l33t-class epic shiz" on his own. He doesn't need a scepter, amulet, or any other trinket to create Force storms, drain planets, mind-fvck millions, weaken the Jedi order's connection to the Force, etc. etc.
It's not a question of who's the better combatant, but who's the strongest. Force power isn't determined by people using devices that enhance it.
I can't believe I'm saying this but Janus actually has a point. We only know Kun as the guy with the amulet, that's all. In a versus fight, he should be judged by his amulet. At the same time, echoing Gideon's point, this is irrelevant in terms of "most powerful". You can't be considered the most powerful when you need the aid of an instrument to achieve said power. With that said, Palpatine has more than enough out of this world feats that didn't require the use of any trinkets.
