I'll probably go with Starfleet, at least at the beginning.

Probably best to start as Starfleet, as you're all familiar with the saying, 'once you go Klingon, you never go back.'

Though I'll probably do Klingon and make my entire crew females, those Klingon wenches all dress like whores.

i don't know why they don't just do away with the pay-per-month and just release additional content that the players may want, that way you're not wasting your money, but the company is getting money still...

i hate PPM games...i mean, fair enough, it's for upkeep of the servers, but other companies manage to get away with upkeep of servers without asking players for they upkeep payment

Because that's not as financially advantageous as just charging you to play and not making new content.

I'm hoping they do it Guild Wars style and release an expansion every few months. Seems to work for them and I find it more appealing than paying per month AND buying expansions.

If they do decide to bring in the Defiant as a usual class, you know that 80% of the Fed people will be just that.

80% of the Feds would probably choose Defiants, but knowing the denizens of the STO boards, at least 70% of the whole population seem to go with Fed fleeters. So it could probably make up more than half the total player-controlled fleets of the game if this became true.

I'm active within a Romulan fleet (although I don't plan on getting the game) with the promise of players being able to make their own mods. I can even supply wireframes for the fleet "modders" to build on.

I wanted an Akira class ship.

Akira-class (Tier-II) ships will be obtained earlier than Defiants (Tier-III)

Here's the "chain of command", with its associated tiers:

Tier-I player: Lieutenant
Tier-II player: Lieutenant Commander
Tier-III player: Commander
Tier-IV player: Captain
Tier-V player: Admiral

It's a bit ridiculous, I would have preferred Rear Admiral or Fleet Captain as far as tier-V players are concerned.

Even so, Tier-V players will have about half the possible skill points spent when they get to the promotion earning them the final tier of ships.

and several classes of federation starship can be outfitted for combat more than anything. the defiant, akira, sovereign, prometheus, etc...

Oh, that was a 300 reference where the guy says the army will blot out the sun with its arrows, and the army fires so many arrows that it blots out all the sunlight.
