Depends who attacks first, a bear could kill you with one swipe probably, I think this guy just got lucky. With a machete you could probably kill it with one swipe depending where you hit, with a bat you may lose but then this guy was able to survive with a bitta wood

It depends on a lot of things though, damaged caused by initial attack, what possible weapons are lying about, ruthlessness of the bear, Luck.
