Anakin vs Obi-Wan

Just one detail.
Boxing, Karate, whatever...

These are sports. Or Martial Arts if you prefer.

Ever been in a street fight? You and your friends against some stupid guys who did something that pissed you off? I'll tell you. In a REAL fight, professional or not, there are no styles. You just want to knock the other guy down without being knocked down first.
Especially when we are talking about a life or death situation.

just wanted to say that it's darth vader vs obie wan

anakin will have already turned by then IMO and that's where obie will beat darth and send him flying into the lava pit.

then we will see palpatine rescue darth and place him in his classic armor.

Actually we don't know if he is given the name Darth Vader before or after the duel.

good point

but what i really meant was that he already turned to the darkside when they face off

still,i think he will have already taken the name darth vader

i'm willing to bet money on it

this is from the official databank:

Skywalker, Anakin ....

As turmoil engulfed the galaxy during the transition from Republic to Empire, Anakin fell to the dark side of the Force. Consumed by evil, Anakin abandoned his past and his humanity. He became Darth Vader, Dark Lord of the Sith, apprentice to the evil Emperor Palpatine.

Sustaining grievous injuries at the hands of his former master, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Vader required cybernetic enhancements and replacements to sustain him. His pure innocent self seemingly lost forever, Darth Vader cast a dark pall over the galaxy, as he was one of the foremost agents responsible for the elimination of the Jedi order.

in the order it is written,he takes the name darth vader first...

but who knows...

we'll see in 2005

Yes we will.

i agree with you, hater.

what you don't understand?

Just about different things you've all posted. I would have absolutely no idea whether you should have one style or several. I simply meant that both RJ's and El Toro's posts helped me a little. So did Ush's. 😊

and as for ob1, i reckon the guy only knew da classic fighting style. and when he took on dooku he was doomed right from the start due to the fact that dooku was much more skilled and experience in that style (wattever he uses).
now imo ob1 wouldve had more of a chance of imposing himself in the duel if he knew more than 1 way of attacking and defending. this wouldve surely thrown dooku off-guard fo mayb a spli moment giving ob1 a slight window of oppurtunity.

And you think that despite the fact that Obi-Wan blatantly used a differernt style in TPM? Rather puts the mockers on the whole argument.

No, he would not have done anything other than lose more quickly if he had swithced to a style that was not the one he was best at.

always a pleasure helping you out lyn 😉

ush, that is nonense.....i have talked to several martial artists who cross train with weapons, and they agree about the question of changing styles, just as they did on the two blade vs. one blade topic.....are you gonna say they are wrong? these guys, mostly friends and family of my boss, have been taking one form of martial arts or another for most of their lives.....i even talked to a guy who used to be a shaolin monk, and he agreed with me too!

im sure youre thinking "sure, rj....you met a shaolin monk.." its true.....in front of the hotel i work is a large office building. a couple of months ago a lady walked into my lobby about 8 pm. she gave me her card. it said" tx.casting." it was a casting company . she said that she and a few others were supposed to meet at the building to have a few actors read for parts. apparently the person with a key hadnt shown up yet and she wanted to know if they could wait in the hotel lobby. i said yes. next thing i know, there about 30 to 40 young people, all of them very good looking, waiting in my lobby......i asked her what they were casting for and she said it was a straight to video mortal kombat knockoff. she started pointing out the kids, saying" on a scale of 1 to 10, as far as martial arts goes, she is a 6, he is a 4, etc: about 20 minutes later, a short asian fellow with very short hair walks in...she called him over and introduced us...he was 22 years old and fairly new to america......he had trained with shaolin monks all his life and was a technical advisor to her.
so, about once a week, she or he will drop by to say hello...the other night i asked him the mentioned questions. he said YES, two blades are better than one, even in mauls case......he also agreed on the subject of changing styles....
if he is not a reliable source, i dont know what is.

Always a pleasure to be helped by you... 😛 😉 Thanx Yerssot 👆

And RJ, I think your idea is good. I agree with having several styles under your belt, even as a Jedi, and one you favour. Obi-Wan just didn't use it. That's all.

i am simply saying that i am gonna take the word of that monk i met over anybody else's.
thanx, lyn..... 🤘

Sok 👆

shaolin monks rule!!!!!!!!

So what exactly is a Shaolin Monk??

And...do you think Anakin will go looking for Padme and Obi-Wan will intercept him to protect her OR will Obi-Wan be waiting for him, knowing he has to duel him [similar to Vader waiting for Ob1 in ANH]..??

to get back to the two blade vs one blade. If the two blade sword style had been superior thats what sword would have look like. Most sword fighting happened on battle fields where the soldiers were heavily armored and often with a shield as well. All of the martial arts is more of a stealth kind of fighting rather thatn an open encounter.
The main reason why two blade swords "aint" it is it takes more skill too master it thus more training and it takes a much wider radius to handle it.

It has always been the "rude" way of fighting over the elegant way in most combats. You just havent time nor room for that "ballet" stuff in a real battle. It may look cool in shows and stuff, but it wasnt efficient enough for the war lords to use in combat. Sure they had them but they had this code of honor that made them real vulnerable in open combat.

Dont get too hung up in martial arts flicks cause real life was much different
