That's been happening to me lately and it's so bad, I'm pissed off at cigarettes all together.
Ok, so...gotta get a new DVD drive, as well as a new power supply.
I was testing my computer earlier and the computer shut itself off. It's done this before, but only under a heavy load (gaming). This time it happened with nothing open, just looking at the desktop.
I pulled my power supply out and took it apart (its out of warrant already). I found several spots of adhesive that was sloppily put on, covering wires it shouldn't even be touching.
And then I found a spot by a transistor. A foam type substance was touching said transistor and it was scorched black from melting/catching fire before.
Needless to say, I don't feel safe having this power supply anymore. Yeah, it was great while it lasted, 600w. I'm going to have to downgrade to 400w now, but it should still be more than enough for me.

Wow...Radio Shack in our town doesn't have shit! I went in to get a Serial ATA data cable for my new DVD drive and they only had a couple cables in total for computers, and not even close to what I needed. That's the only place in town for stuff like that. I went to the repair shop down the street and asked if they would be willing to sell me one, and they did! Otherwise I'd have to drive 30 miles to get a $5 cable!
