The Collector

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66MbpT0-_dY

Desperate to repay his debt to his ex-wife, an ex-con plots a heist at his new employer's country home, unaware that a second criminal has also targeted the property, and rigged it with a series of deadly traps.

It's directed by the guy who wrote Saw 4, 5 and 6, and the Feast films.

Check out three posters here, the first one is fantastic.

It looks interesting. I would like to see it, and mostly because I actually liked Dead Silence, and was by the makers of the Saw. This one could be good as well.

Saw(s) however, are not.

Hoping this is good.

i was talking with a few friends about this.. we all agree, this looks pretty good and we will see this

I'm the other way around. Dead Silence was a dud for me, but enjoyed all the Saw films, not my favourites though.

Humm glad they didn't go for the Saw prequel!

Coming to theaters on July 31st from Freestyle Releasing is the highly anticipated gore horror film from the duo behind FEAST and SAW IV through VI. The film was originally about to be a prequel to SAW, here's what co-writer Patrick Melton had to say about it; "Well, the story is that Leigh [Whanell] didn't want to do any more after 3. So, they were looking for writers. They didn't have much of a story for 4, and an executive over at Twisted read THE MIDNIGHT MAN and thought it could be a good prequel, explaining a traumatic incident that happened to John Kramer when young. Mark and Oren didn't want to do a prequel like that, so the idea got squashed, but the script as a sample is what got us the deal to write SAW 4, 5, & 6."

After Twisted passed on making a prequel, Melton explains how the Weinstein Company ended up making it. "Well, it all sort of happened at the same time. Fortress Features paid us to write the script with the agreement that Marcus directs," he explains. "They were going to fund it, but ended up needing more money and pursued other investors. However, Marcus didn't have a good reel, so Fortress funded a shoot to make a five minute concept teaser (like a fake trailer). Based upon that, we met with a bunch of investors hoping to make it independently (Twisted being one of those companies). Bob Weinstein ended up getting his hands on the concept teaser, and when he saw it, he stomped to his office door, slammed it shut and said, 'You're not leaving this office until I have this movie.' When Dimension showed interest, two other studios also started bidding for it, but Dimension ended up winning out in the end because they agreed to make the film with Marcus at the helm and with a big penalty if we didn't go into production within a year."

This looks interesting. I'll probably see it, hoping its nothing like the last few Saws....

I swear to God, if it has one of those Saw endings with the music and 'flashbacks' (which Dead Silence stupidly also had), I'm.... not going to be very happy...

I like it when they do the flashback ending with the music at the end of the Saw films. 😛

I personally don't because I usually piece the... pieces together by then, and, I dunno, just don't like it

The flashback ending in Dead Silence was really messed up in my opinion. Hopefully Collector will be a good flick. From the way I see the commercials for this movie, it almost looks supernatural.

These two pieces made me skeptical, like all this guy is trying to do is start another Saw franchise.

The trailer doesn't look bad though.

I'm disappointed coming from the writers of the Feast films, it's rubbish, not worth seeing.

I didn't mind this film, mostly b'cos that girl who was in the last series of Heroes had a great pair of ****.

With the Empire Mag they gave it 4 stars.

🍺 I seen this last night, Actually really enjoyed it,The gore scenes and traps were superb and even though it's not saying much as I'm yet to see Saw 3D or Paranormal activity 2,Splice and The Human centipede,I think that at the moment I would say this is the best horror movie I have seen this year. 7.5/10
