"You ever done simulation flight though?" She asks, "Most schools have a few for students they wouldn't trust with a real ship quite yet, and while they're not as much fun as the ones you can get off the Cortex, they're very close to the real thing..." Harmony says, before glancing at the Captain again. "Anyways, I should go... uh, make sure our passenger listing is up to date." She adds. Is that a hint of nervousness in her voice? "Any idea when the rest of the crew will be back with our first stop, Captain?"
The fact that it will slow down the terraforming process is probably why this is illegal... thought Vash to himself. If they would be caught with this stuff in their cargo, without doubt all the blame will go on them. Then again, the profits were high and the risk wasn't that great. The only missing piece of information was how exactly far from the center would they have to travel.
"Won't slow it at all, miss," Harlan says. "That's why it's called surplus. It won't be missed unless someone comes prying about for it. Which they won't. I'm hadin' up distributions for this stuff! It's my job to go pryin'."
Harlan, of course, takes special interest in what Nadra is saying.
"Terraforming equipment is restricted to government use," he tells you. "Don't want people usin' it when they could be paying for it, right? I'm slipping past that and making more money for myself in the process. Hence illegal."
"I see," Nadra says, not entirely sure what she thinks of the 'legality' of the matter. She smiles at Harlan, taking advantage of his apparent attraction to her.
"And you think that, despite the slight illegality of this, that it should be a safe enough job? Not that I doubt you, but a lady such as myself would like to be reassured."
"Your Captain is perfectly aware, I assure you," he says to Toki. "As for the danger, unless you all start broadcasting what you're carrying in your hold, it should be safe. You'll turn a nice profit and be on to your next job in no time.
"You are to take the extra junk from my garage off of Rubicon and rendezvous with another crew that will take it the rest of the way," Harlan continues. "The rendevzous will be in the Halo."
For those of you savvy in Savoir-Faire, you know that the Halo is the asteroid belt that lines the outside of the Bai Hu system, which you are in. At some point the asteroids are thousands of miles apart; at others, they are close enough to cause collisions. It is in general not a pleasant place to be.
"Not complicated at all," Harlan says with a smile. "I want to retire and get off this rock. This job should do the trick, with enough to go around for the crews helping me out."
Harlan sends word to the Russian to begin loading up the cargo onto the Samson, and you can all shuffle out of his office and back into the garage where that is happening. Harlan's workers move quickly to stack large crates onto the back of the hovering vehicle.
The travel back to Gan Ying is uneventful, and Kelly will have the ramp lowered and waiting for you. He tells you to keep everything on the Samson, for loading and unloading purposes.
"Updating the registry would be fantastic, Harmony," the Captain responds to her. "See it done."
The passengers can hunker down in their rooms, if they so please. Phillip will be doing so.
