Updates on DC Comics Movie Adaptations
Source:The Hollywood Reporter July 20, 2009

The Hollywood Reporter has published an interesting article on the film projects that DC Comics has in the works. They mention previously-reported titles The Losers, Jonah Jex, The Green Lantern, and Red, but there's more on others we haven't heard much about lately. Here's a few excerpts:

This past fall, Warners quietly hired three of DC's biggest writers -- Geoff Johns, Grant Morrison and Marv Wolfman -- to act as consultants and writers for its superhero line of movies. The move involved taking back the reins on projects being handled by such producers as Charles Roven ("The Flash"😉 and Akiva Goldsman ("Teen Titans"😉.

The moves have begun to pay off. Johns worked up a new treatment for a "Flash" script, being written by Dan Mazeau; Johns will act in a producer capacity on the project, which has not attached a director.

The projects Morrison and Wolfman are working on are in the early stages at Warners, whose execs declined to comment.

The studio is taking pitches on sci-fi hero Adam Strange and the underwater-breathing hero "Aquaman," to be produced by Leonardo DiCaprio and his Appian Way shingle.

Also in the pipeline: "Bizarro Superman" being written by "Galaxy Quest" scribes David Howard and Robert Gordon; a sequel to "Constantine," with Goldsman and Erwin Stoff producing; two concurrent Green Arrow projects, an origin story and a prison-set one titled "Super Max"; and "Shazam," which was set up at New Line but has moved to Warners, with Pete Segal attached to direct.

They also mention a Superman Returns sequel, a third Batman film from Christopher Nolan and the Justice League movie, but there's no real news there. You can read the full article here.

DC can try and spin as much as possible...and i am not thrilled with thier blueprint for the future...but they have to get Superman on the right track...the craptastic, ugly, very bad Superman Doomsday cartoon..making more money than any other of its kind from either company.... is one indication that DC needs this icon out front and center

Grant Morrison working on a DC movie? Wonder which one that's gonna be lol...

Hope they get Batman 3 in with Nolan directing. Green Lantern would be fantastic. Wouldn't mind seeing a Wonder Woman film either.

Constantine was GREAT! If they can keep it up, it will be GREAT!!!

with respect i disagree

They're taking a page from Marvel, who started consulting their top brain trust from the comics - Joe Quesada, Mark Millar, Brian Bendis, Tom Brevoot & others - from the Iron Man movie onward. It's a good idea, but I wonder how many of these projects are really worth it.
Teen Titans? It's never going to be X-Men, no matter how hard they try.

No i am not...DC gave us the short stick...the art was horrible and the story was as weak as wet toilet paper.....they went the cheap and boring way....instead of commiting to a 3 animated movie trilogy--Superman/Doomsday....Reign of Supermen....Return of Superman......we got the worst animated cartoon i have seen in a long time....i dont feel like settling for thier lame version of what happened in the comics....but hey thats me...we all have our opinons 😉

I am. Nolan is simply one of those people you can't read or predict. Don't want him to step down that's all.

I didn't like the story or how the film was directed.. Besides they should have just called the film Helllblazer

true, but there is absolutely no need to rush... Nolan brought back Batman and made people forget that piece of shiite called Batman and Robin.. Let the man take all the time he wants.. he deserves it, besides I believe anyway(it just isn't being reported) that Nolan and Co. and secretly plotting and planning Batman 3
