What MJ was referring to was the press slamming him for bleaching his skin because of at least a couple of reasons: He either wanted to be white either because of race thing, or he wanted to be white because of some sort of wacked out color or getup scheme. OR, he wanted to be white because he was ashamed to be black. It usually came in the want to be white or ashamed to be black.
