retrieving deleted video clips on video camcorder

So my sisters accidentally (i hope) deleted all of our precious vacay video on our hd jvc camcorder. is it possible at all to get it back?

Since noone replied, I could take a stab at it, and suggest that if it was deleted directly from the camera, you may never get it back...
