No, it have a limit.

But the limit is far, far greater that everything Thanos have showed in the past.

With the Phoenix avatars, X-Men stomps. That's not even debatable.

Without, I don't think guys like Iceman are enough to win. Thanos is very mighty, and powerful enough to kill almost all the X-Men in a one-shot. Thanos would most likely win.

I was under the impression that the source of their power was limitless, but they as avatars are limited in what they can tap into.

Well, Rachel also stalemated galactus. did that almost killing him if it weren't for him revealing the source of her power thing to her same as he did to jean... well not really jean, but Phoenix 2. Jean is phoenix 4 Rachel is phoenix 3.
