why didn't they shoot it down?

why didnt they shoot the malaninnium falcon down ? they got two big guns there

They pulled in the falcon on purpose hence the tractor beam. They likely wanted to capture anyone in there and question them.

Talk to Solo. lol

Those guns would not have hit the falcon anyway. There useless like in the trench run. Not one gun hit a ship

also, they're protected by canon, so.. *shrug*

Have you actually watched the movie?

If so, then you know why they didn't.

Why didn't they shoot at the Falcon when they bailed then? Instead of only having those fighters going after them, those guns could have done more until the fighters got to them, putting more pressure on them.

Did you watch the film?

It was a ruse - they made a token gesture to convince the Falcon passengers they wanted to recapture them, when they really just wanted to track them to the secret rebel base. Leia suspected early that was the case.
Good thing the Death star got destroyed; who knows how many homing beacons they stored inside the Falcon. Han was going to be monitored for a long time.

My apologies, you are right, it has been a while since I watched ANH and forgot about the tracking thing they placed on the Falcon to find out where they were going. I take what I said back.
