Of course the Grand Army of the Republic from Star Wars pwns, even though they don't have access to microsoft (or was it apple) computer viruses. That part was so cheesy. Heck, the entire movie was cheesy. When you think about it, the only ways how the aliens were more advanced were:
1. space travel/spaceships
2. forcefields
Once the forcefields were taken out, the alien UFOs were slaughtered by a president that probably didn't have any combat training. The UFOs were slow, had no very-long range weapons, and their lasers were inaccurate.
And the big ships were super slow, and had to go directly below a city to do damage (that was no more than a modern nuke) to it...apparently the aliens didn't have long ranged guided munitions or lasers.

without using eu sources i think the id4 aliens would win. they were shown on-panel tanking a nuclear bomb with zero damage on them.no ships in the empire or the clone navy have shown that kind of durability.
No. Star Destroyers can destroy the surfaces of worlds. Those big ships have the power only about on par/slightly above a nuclear explosion, and they must be directly on top of its target and must charge up.
Star Destroyers have shields too, which CAN survive at least several nukes.
Also, the UFOs aren't really all that fast, and once their shields were down they got one shotted by missiles.

when have they ever done that in the movies? where has it even been stated in the movies that one destroyer has that kind of damage output?

where was this shown in the movies?

Does it have to be from the movies? I mean, sure this is the movies versus forum, but in Star Wars many of the books are referenced in some way in the movies. The majority of SW's content actually comes from the books, so removing the books/other stuff from being used is like removing the large majority of sources.

Does that say so in the rules?
Yet then you're basically removing 90+% of the Star Wars sources available, so that you really only have 1 1/2 movies to judge the Grand Army of the Republic.
Nevertheless, the GAR spans an entire galaxy. The aliens as far as we know don't. And the GAR ships also have shields.
What are the ID4 aliens gonna do to them? Proof that they can travel at FTL speeds? Because unless if they manage to do something like capture Coruscant and its 1 trillion citizens, aliens can't totally defeat the Republic.
Plus, the Republic's Star Destroyers are far more numerous and larger than those seen in ID4. Those big ships could only fire at stuff directly below them, and it takes a while for it to charge up. So a huge fleet of Star Destroyers just appears next to the ships and blows them to bits. The UFOs are incapable of doing any significant damage to the SDs, and the big ships can only attack stuff below them.
Or they could just disable the shields with viruses.
