Yes, see it. It's wonderful supernatural horror film. It's now in my all time favourite films actually. Don't know about the above guys, but the film made me cry.
My girlfriend cried. Very powerful stuff. She doesn't like horror movies because they scare her too much. I convinced her to watch it, and she wasn't scared at all, but instead got very emotional. This is part of why I don't consider it a horror movie. I would characterize it more as a suspenseful, supernatural drama.
Remake news
Back in August it was revealed that Larry Fessenden would be helming a remake of for New Line Cinema and Guillermo del Toro. It is no more. "THE ORPHANAGE was two years of waiting," Fessenden said. "Working on the script with Guillermo was a very exciting experience, but then I got into a casting miasma and that's where the thing is; I think they're gonna do it another way, actually. So I think I'm out of it. Hopefully they'll still use my script, but I'm not sure I'm directing it anymore. That's Hollywood for ya."
Hope it totally goes to pot.
