Han Solo's choice of ships.

Can someone tell me why Han Solo picked a YT-1300 over a YT-2400. Lando's marker said he could have any ship on the lot. isn't the YT-2400 a better ship?

He didn't pick any YT-1300. He picked the Falcon. It's modified.

Yeah, that YT-2400 has a Class 2.0 Hyperdrive, and a Class 12 backup.
The Falcon has a Class .05 Hyperdrive(Fastest you can get is .01, with .00 being infinite speed), and a Class 10 backup.

Plus it's got heavily modified weapons, internal systems, smuggling compartments, stealth capabilities, etc...

It might look like a piece of crap, and breakdown more times than Han can count, but that's one helluva ship.

i don't believe the falcon was that fast when he first bought it, he had the guy shug work on it and then he went to the corporate sector to get more work on it. didn't he end up salvaging that hyperdrive from a destroyed military ship?

anyway, that doesn't mean the YT-2400 was a stock ship.

The YT-2400 Light Freighter is a stock ship.

The YT-1300 is a stock ship.

The Falcon however, was far from that when he got a hold of it.

You're right though, it wasn't that fast when he got it, but it was still faster than the 2400.

He wanted a Star Destroyer, but Lando didn't have any.
