Attacking failed concepts and policies makes less of an impact than attacking a person who has messed up and is one of "the enemy".It's easy. Unfortunately it happens in the UK all the time. People being forced to reseign from public office over stupid personal choices that don't really have any implication or bearing on how capable they are of doing their job but are hounded by opposing parties and media to the point where their job becomes untenable because every question they get asked from the press becomes about what they have done in their private lives.
Exactly, the point of this was a PERSONAL attack. Not a political one. The fact that he's a Republican just made it funnier.
It wasn't a "republicans are messed up". It was a "jesus, look, another political pervert."
