Well lets' see if I can resolve this little dispute.
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is a Chinese movie. Therefore it's full of Chinese culture. Hence the flying and such. It's just like an American movie having cheeseburgers, and African movies having donkeys. So if you haven't go the sense the Chinese movies are going to be subtitled and full of high-flying-that's-impossibles, you've no right to complain! Although.... some of the soaring was a bit over-the-roof (pun intented). They might have gone a bit too far for some realistic people.
The Matrix was so totally brilliant because everything in it had never been seen before. A virtual world? Who da thunk it? And the bullet time effect was just so amazing, I think that's what really did it for the movie.
I also agree with Faction, although the African-Donkey connection has left me a little baffled.
I enjoyed the fight scene's in The Matrix and The One for sheer Hollywood bravado. But for a good ol' fashioned "ruck", you can't beat Fight Club and the Rocky films (however unbelievable they may be) and how about Bob Hoskins giving that blokes face a real mashing in Mona Lisa? Ouch!
oh, god...i know quite a few ppl who pick on the 'flying' thing in CTHD.
I liked even those parts a lot. It fits perfectly with the story, and the fights are as real as a film will usually ever get.
As i said before and seen noone mentioning it, The one has way better fights than matrix.
Can't wait for reloaded, with jet li...oh boy oh boy
Jet Li is in Reloaded? Why was I not informed of this stunning piece of information before????
BTW, Daniel Bernhardt will also be in Reloaded. He is a very good martial artist, and has starred in the TV show, Mortal Kombat Conquest (a show that had surprisingly excellent fight scenes), and some movies such as Bloodsport III.
And that Africa-donkey connection, I took a vacation to Tunisia recently and there were donkeys all over the place. More donkeys than camels even. But that's not the point of this thread.
As for The One having better scenes than The Matrix, I think I can almost agree with you on that. They were more SPECTACULAR, but I have to say that The Matrix had beautiful choreography.
