USH'S STAR WARS GAME- LIGHT SIDE INTERLUDE- 'Broken Lance'

C'mon, guys! There's no point doing any of this if you don't actually have an object in mind.

IF you knew where their next job was, what would you actually do abnout it?

(Set up a trap. Use whatever local help we could scrape up and be waiting for them. Do as much damage to their ability to do 'business' as we can. Destroy their hardware and capture/kill any leadership.)

Ok, what sort of trap?

The pirates' whole plan of attack is based on speed- hit fast and then get out of there as fast as they can. I say we spring a trap that prevents them from leaving so quickly. Let them get into where they want to be, then flank them with security forces and, of course, us.

Roan and myself would probably take to the skies to help whatever local starfighter force drive there is drive back the pirates and take out their ships so that they have no means of escape, either.

Indeed, you will need to tackle them in space as well.

I think it would just be a means of appearing unprepared and vulnerable to the pirates, then springing our trap with overwhelming force to wipe out their strike team. We'd have to get people ready on the ground and fighters in the air. It's something the Jedi could lead, both teams. Maybe reinforcements from another world could cut the pirates' escape off via ships flanking the pirates and we could lead the starfighters of whatever world we put our trap on to pincer them between both fleets?

Remember, co-operation between worlds is not practical.

Maybe we could set up a plan like that, but just using the resources from one planet and having them jump to another location then jump back.

In essence, though, we'd want the pirates to be completely cut off from returning to their ships on the ground by security forces and whichever Jedi we have leading that effort, and then we'd want to deprive them of air support by overwhelming their ships, bombing their transports, so on.

Leave them helpless, basically.

Ok (and yes, nabbing those transports will be an important bit!) though the pirates aren't going to jump in if they see the area bristling with defending fighters!

If you want a clean sweep, you need to hit them at the point of maximum commitment to the operation.

(Then they need to be entering or already inside when we hit. That'd be the furthest from the landing ships they'll get. Our ground team could be party disguised as emplyees and patrons (if applicable), the rest could hopefully be squared away in a nearby structure. The space force would be a short jump away like Jelena said. We beam them a signal the moment we begin our strike.)

Your Jedi fighter crafts' hyperspace rings are pretty acuurate- especially with Piloting rolls behind them- but relying on local forces to make accurate hyperspace jumps is risky.

(Well, how about the old 'hide at one of the poles' trick? Or behind a moon, or on the other side of the planet? I don't think the space team would have to engage at the same instant as the ground forces. If our ground strike is effective by any degree, then it would take some time for the pirate's fleet to recover their ships. If they would abandon the landing party, wouldn't that still be a kind of win for us? For them to loose all that hardware and personnel would be quite expensive. If the pirate fleet gets away, our space force can come assist the ground force if needed by helping keep the landing craft grounded, or chasing down any escapees.)

Depends on the planet, of course, but hiding nearby is very possible.

However, you need to take down their striking force. If you leave the ships intact, you've blown your chance to do that. Being pirates, of course they would flee!

Ok, but the conclusion is that you are going to need very accurate information- even if you manage to find the fleet and track what planet it weas heading to, you wouldn't know the ground target.

So, time to make plans. How are you going to get this info?

Working out a pattern is not something that is going to help here. I am also sure that there is no pattern, beyond how they attack. We can at least figure out their methods (as we have mostly I believe) and lay our trap to best deal with it, but I think we have to get back to thinking about going undercover to get what we need.

Well, let's hear a plan!

Well, in order to join Red Lance we'd have to find out how they recruit their members. Do we have any info on that?

You have no information on whether they have been recruiting since they migrated at all!

Time to put yourselves in the shoe sof the pirates. They are not magicians; their methods are entirely conventional. So, what do they do in order to pull off one of their successful raids? They must reach out at SOME point; they don't just spontaneously acquire the knowledge.

They need to know the layout of their target, and they also need to find good targets for them in the first place. To do either they'd need someone with a knowledge of both, or multiple someones.
